This GM potato delivers only raw materials for the starch industry. Some residues arising from starch processing are used as animal feed. - The aim of authorisation as food is for protection in case some GM potatoes reach food processing inadvertently.

EFSA Opinion Scientific report of EFSA's safety assessment dated November 10, 2006. In the assessment, cultivation as well as ist application as food and feed were considered.

Conclusion: The potato EH92-527-1 and derived products are unlikely to cause adverse effects on human and animal health and the environment, in the context of the proposed uses.
