Vector
Vectors are circular strands of DNA (plasmids) generally obtained from bacterial or viral sources that are commonly used in genetic engineering. Genes of interest can be integrated into a vector and introduced into bacteria or other organisms. Vectors have all of the genetic information needed for them to be replicated and utilised in various types of cells. A plasmid from Agrobacterium tumefaciens (Ti-plasmid) is often used as a vector for plant genetic transformation. |
