Regeneration

Regeneration is the general ability of most organisms to rebuild cells, tissues, or organs.

Complete, new organisms can be regenerated from entirely undifferentiated cells (totipotent). This process is quite simple in plants and is often used in modern research and crop improvement. Following genetic engineering or other processes, entire plants are grown from single cells. This process requires precisely controlled conditions (environment, nutrients, hormones, etc.).
