Research Fungal, bacterial and insect resistance, delayed maturity
Field trials None
Approval None
Perspectives No commercial utilisation of GM mangos is expected at present

Cultivation

Mangos, after bananas, are the second most important fruit in the tropics. India is the main producer, with a third of the world's production (28 million tons) being grown there in 2005. Other important producing countries are China, Thailand, Pakistan, Mexico, Indonesia, the Philippines, Brazil and Nigeria.
