Sunflower oil

Description

Sunflower oil is made by the extraction or pressing of the peeled sunflower kernels.
Because of its high content of multiplied-defatted fatty acids, sunflower oil is especially valuable for the daily intake of food

Application

In particular sunflower oil is used in:

Gene technology

Raw material: sunflower oil

Apart from the EU, and especially in the USA, work is underway on genetically modified sunflower oil. To date, no applications for approval have been made. Especially in the USA and Argentina, a market launch of GM sunflowers is to be expected.

Labelling: oil from genetically modified sunflowers would be liable to be labelled.
