Guanylate
DescriptionGuanylates are a variety of compounds manufactured from guanylic acid (disodium guanylate E 627, dipotassium guanylate E 628, calcium guanylate E 629). ApplicationGuanylates are used as flavour enhancers:
Gene technologyGuanylates are salts of guanylic acid. This acid may be manufactured with the aid of genetically modified microorganisms. However, the commercial presence and prevalence of this process cannot be determined in individual cases. Labelling: Additives that are manufactured in closed systems with the aid of genetically modified organisms need not be labelled as such, provided that the additive has been purified and contains no microorganisms. If the employed microorganisms have received nutrients (substrate) from genetically modified plants, the additive remains exempt from labelling.
