Description of product

Fruit preparations are ready-to-use ingredients for fruit yoghurts and other dessert dishes, cakes and bakery goods.

As a rule, fruit preparations consist of many ingredients and additives.

Principally, the individual ingredients of a mixed ingredient must be declared in the ingredient list of a product. However, there are exceptions:

  • in cases in which the mixed ingredient comprises less than twenty-five per cent of the entire food product.
  • in cases in which the ingredients of the mixed ingredient have "no technological effect" on the end product.
  • percental indication of the quantity of fruit is new. Example: nut yoghurt with 3.5 per cent nuts.

Possible labelling in regard to applications of genetic technology refers to such ingredients or to additives that are declared on the list of ingredients of the product in question.

Possible application of gene technology

In the case of the fruits used (e.g. strawberries, raspberries, cherries, pineapple, pears or nuts), no genetically modified types of fruit are used to date.

Applications of gene technology are possible in the following ingredients that often are found in fruit preparations. However, it is not possible to state which particular products are affected by these possibilities:
